Log what you remember and tag the elements that keep showing up. Over enough entries, Ludin ranks those tags by frequency — and the top of that list is your set of dream signs: the things most likely to be in the room the next time you're dreaming.

- Dream description. What happened in the dream. Write it as soon as you wake — recall decays within minutes, and fragments are worth logging even when the narrative is gone.
- Recurring elements. A comma-separated list of the people, places and symbols in it — flying, ocean, childhood home. Keep tags short and reuse the same word each time; ocean and the sea count as two different tags.
- This was a lucid dream. Tick it if you became aware you were dreaming. This is what your success rate is measured against, so be strict — a vivid dream is not a lucid one.
- Save entry. The entry joins the list at the bottom of the screen and feeds the pattern panel.
Reading the recurring-elements panel
Under Recurring elements, Ludin ranks your tags by how often they appear across all entries. It stays empty until you've tagged a few entries — there's no pattern to find in one night. Three mornings of entries is usually enough for the first real patterns to surface, which is why the suggested start is three days of journalling before you add a cue tool.
What to do with it: take your top two or three tags and make them reality-check triggers. If childhood home is at the top of your list, then every time you're in a childhood home — awake or asleep — you check whether you're dreaming. That's the mechanism behind classic dream-sign practice, and it's the highest-leverage thing the journal gives you.
Why journal at all if the app fires a cue? Because a cue only helps if you notice it, and noticing is a trained skill. Recall practice and dream signs are what turn a flash of red light into "wait — I'm dreaming" rather than a flash of red light in a dream you forget by breakfast.
